Starting your free trial

Sign up for a 14-day free trial — no credit card needed — choose your store URL, and sign in as the admin. When you're ready to keep the store, use the Update Billing Information button in the app; pricing is per location.

Trying PHP Point Of Sale takes only a few minutes: there's nothing to install, and your store runs in the browser from day one. The trial lasts 14 days, is the full product, and requires no credit card — you will not be billed unless you decide to subscribe.

Create your trial store

Signup is a three-step form on the trial signup page: Contact Information, Cloud Trial Options, and Confirmation.

  1. Go to the trial signup page.
  2. Under Contact Information, enter your Company Name, your Name, Email, Phone, Country, and your Business Type, then press Continue. The email address matters: your account credentials are sent to it.
  3. Under Cloud Trial Options, choose your Number of Locations and a Billing Frequency (Monthly or Yearly). These only set up what your plan will look like if you subscribe later — as the form itself says, you will NOT be billed now and can try the service without entering billing information.
  4. Enter your Store URL. Your store lives at its own address in the style of yourstore.phppointofsale.com — this is where you and your employees will sign in, so pick a name you're happy to keep. The store URL may contain only letters and numbers, with no spaces, and must not already be taken; if you leave it blank, one is generated from your company name.
  5. Enter the Username and Password you'll use as the store's admin.
  6. Under Confirmation, accept the terms, complete the captcha, and press Start Free Trial.

When the store is created you'll see "Cloud Account Setup Completed!" with your store's Url, Username, and Password, plus a Start Using POS button that takes you straight to your new store. The same credentials are also emailed to you. Bookmark your store URL right away — it's the address you'll open every day.

Sign in for the first time

Open your store URL and sign in with the admin username and password you chose. Your admin account has every permission, so you can reach every module from day one; the employee logins you create later can be limited with permissions — see employee accounts. If you ever forget the password, the login page has a Reset password link that emails you a reset link; see secure sign-in.

Your first sign-in lands on the dashboard, where two things greet you:

  • A green trial banner that shows the exact date your trial ends, with an Update Billing Information button for whenever you're ready to subscribe.
  • A setup checklist of six steps — company information, locations, items, employees, customers, and your first sale — that takes a fresh store to one that's ready to sell. Follow your first day: store setup to work through them in a sensible order.

It's also worth opening the store from a tablet or a phone early on. Everything runs in the browser, so you can test the exact devices you plan to use at the counter from day one — and the mobile app connects to the same store.

Make the most of the trial

The trial is the full product, so treat it like your real store: add a few real items, create an employee login or two, and ring up practice sales — the dashboard offers a test mode so practice sales aren't saved into your reports. Everything you set up during the trial carries straight into the paid store, so none of this work is throwaway. If you'd like a guided look first, you can book a one-on-one demo, and onboarding help is available if you're migrating from another system.

Subscribe when you're ready

You convert a trial into a paid store from inside the app — there's no separate checkout to hunt for. Any of these takes you to the billing portal, where you enter payment details:

  • The Update Billing Information button on the dashboard's trial banner.
  • Your avatar menu (top-right corner) → Update Billing Information.
  • Store Config → Company Information, in the Subscription plan panel — the Billing row's button opens the same portal, where you manage payment methods, invoices, and subscription changes.

Subscriptions are priced per location, with unlimited registers and employees; see pricing for current plans, and billing and subscription for how billing works day to day, including what each subscription status means.

If the trial runs out first

If your 14 days end before you subscribe, the login page for your store is replaced with a message that your trial has ended, along with a button to activate the account's billing information. Your store and its data are still there — subscribing picks up exactly where you left off, with everything you entered during the trial intact.

Once you're subscribed and set up, the next practical step is usually bringing over your existing records — see importing your data for the spreadsheet import wizard that handles items, customers, suppliers, and more.

Common questions

Do I need a credit card to start the trial? No. The signup form collects no billing information, and nothing can charge you automatically — subscribing is always an explicit step you take in the billing portal.

How long does the trial last? 14 days from signup. The dashboard's trial banner shows the exact end date the whole time.

Is anything missing from the trial version? No — the trial is the complete product. Anything you build during it (items, customers, employees, settings, practice data) stays in the store when you subscribe.

What happens to my data if the trial expires? Nothing is wiped when the timer runs out: sign-in is blocked behind a "trial has ended" screen, and subscribing from that screen's billing link reopens the store exactly as you left it.

Can I change the number of locations later? Yes. The location count you pick at signup just seeds your plan; you can add or remove locations after subscribing, and your per-location bill adjusts — see billing and subscription.

Why is my store URL being rejected? The store URL must contain only letters and numbers — no spaces or punctuation — and must not already be in use by another store. Try a shorter or more distinctive name.

Where do I sign in tomorrow? At your own store URL (yourstore.phppointofsale.com), not at the main website. Bookmark it — it was shown on the signup confirmation screen and sent in your welcome email.
