Is it possible to update the quantity of an existing item variable through the API?

Is this a bug with the close out report? Also, a gift card from a bank was used but is not showing up in close out report as well.

Update - The detailed sales report did match my merchant account for that day.

This randomly happens about 4 or 5 times a month, on different days... When I open the Close Out and Detailed sales reports, those show different amounts for subtotal, total, and tax... The reports...
