Import Bug - Special Characters in Custom Fields

I just finished importing ~8000 items, and I discovered that if you import the '#' character into a custom field it causes a glitch.

Let's say you're importing 100 items, and item 50 has the # character in a custom field. The software will skip over the entire record and create item 50 with data from item 51, and you will end up with a total of 99 items with items 50-99 having incorrect data. 

I did have the # character in the Item Name field, and it did not cause a problem. So it seems that the problem occurs with custom fields only.
