Has anyone tried Card Connect?

Yeah they're a big company so it's hard to get info from real people instead of people who are trying to use it every once in a while like "Square".  My rep gave me some rough numbers over email, but it's hard to prove something in writing like that because there are some 15 different types for each Visa MC and AMEX that all get slightly different rates

Before I switched to PHPPOS and CardConnect we've had different processors from RBS Link, Intuit Payments, and TSYS.  CardConnect is getting us by far the best rates and the backend portal doesn't look like it's from 2002.  Our whole team is happy with it

Just tell your rep you want something like $0.05 transaction fee and no more than 0.35%-0.8% per transaction (depending on how much you can prove you've processed in the last 3 months)

Thanks, Tyler - that sounds pretty good.

I've been using Vantiv, and the statements do get pretty complex.  The "processing fees" seem pretty reasonable, but the "interchange and surcharge fees" are a different story.  And then there are "other fees", and then the "PCI compliance fees".  By the end of it, the overall fees end up being anywhere from 2% to 3% every month.

You haven't found the extra fees to be excessive, then? Have you by chance figured out what your overall rate is? I know it changes with volume, but a top end of 0.8% seems pretty amazing.

Yeah there is the $15/month platform fee among some other fees, but they are very clearly grouped in the monthly statement and are still much less than we've paid with other processors.

With all transaction/platform/swipe/PCI fees last month our statement came out to just under 0.9% total

I assume that's in addition to the interchange rates?

Just as an update, we have changed to Card Connect.  Everything has gone very smoothly, and we all prefer it to what we'd been using.  The processing fees - at least for the first couple months - have been lower than what we'd been paying to Vantiv/Worldpay, and much lower that what we were going to be able to get from Square.  I thank Tyler and Chris for their input on it.
